Servant of the Prophet ﷺ

When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, Umm Sulaym brought her young son Anas and gave him to serve the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Anas served him for ten years, and testified that in all that time the Prophet ﷺ never once scolded him, struck him, frowned at him, or asked why he had done or left undone a thing. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 2 · pp. 553 — Kandhlawi — Anas given to serve the Prophet; ten years of service in which he was never rebuked.

The Du’a Fulfilled

His mother asked the Prophet ﷺ to pray for “this little servant,” and he prayed that Allah grant Anas abundant wealth and children, long life, and forgiveness. Anas lived to see it all: his orchards bore fruit twice a year, his descendants were many — he buried scores of his own children — and he lived to a great age. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 629–630 — Kandhlawi — the Prophet's du'a for Anas's wealth, children and long life, and its fulfilment; his many descendants and twice-yearly harvest.

Virtues in the Hadith

اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ وَبَارِكْ لَهُ فِيهِ

”O Allah, increase his wealth and his children, and bless him therein.”

Sahih Muslim 2481a · Book 44 (Merits of the Companions), Hadith 205 · narrated by Anas ibn Malik

A great narrator of the Prophet’s ﷺ words, Anas was among the last of the Companions to die, passing away in Basra at about a hundred and three. 3 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 629 — Kandhlawi — Anas dies in Basra in 93 AH, aged about 103.
