Among the Quraysh at Badr, Aqil was taken prisoner. His uncle Abbas رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُHazrat Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalibرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُThe Prophet's ﷺ uncle, through whom Umar sought rainAhl al-Bayt paid the ransom both for himself and for Aqil.
