Eyewitness at Makkah

Before his Islam, Umar ibn al-Khattab used to torture the slave-girls of Banu Mu’ammil for their Islam. Hassan ibn Thabit himself bore witness — narrating the cruelty inflicted on Zinneera in the days when there was no defender for the weak. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 116 — Kandhlawi — Hassan ibn Thabit's eyewitness testimony to Umar's torture of Zinneera before his Islam.

The Poet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Hassan was the leading poet of the Ansar — known to the later tradition as the Poet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

In the Affair of the Slander

In the affair of the slander of Aisha, the Prophet ﷺ instructed that Mistah ibn Uthatha, Hassan ibn Thabit, and Hamna bint Jahsh be lashed according to the prescribed penalty — because of the part they had played in spreading the accusation. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 565 — Kandhlawi — Mistah, Hassan and Hamna lashed in the prescribed penalty after the slander.

The Gift of Sirin

After Muqawqis of Alexandria sent his gift of two Coptic slave-women to the Prophet ﷺ, the Prophet ﷺ kept Maria for himself and gave her sister Sirin to Hassan ibn Thabit; she bore him his son Abdur-Rahman. 3 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 2 · pp. 113 — Idris Kandhlawi — the Prophet ﷺ gives Sirin to Hassan ibn Thabit.
