Wife of al-Abbas
Lubaba bint al-Harith — better known as Umm al-Fadl — was wife of the Prophet’s ﷺ uncle al-Abbas, sister of Maymuna (a Mother of the Believers), and mother of al-Fadl and Abdullah ibn Abbas.
The Tent-Pole that Felled Abu Lahab
When the freedman Abu Rafi, alone in al-Abbas’s house, rejoiced quietly at the news of the Muslim victory at Badr, Abu Lahab burst in and beat him to the ground in his rage. Lubaba seized one of the tent’s wooden supports and struck Abu Lahab over the head with such force that she opened a great wound. Within seven days he died of an affliction. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 3 · pp. 536 — Kandhlawi — Lubaba strikes Abu Lahab with a tent-pole over his beating of Abu Rafi after Badr; Abu Lahab dies within the week.
At the Prophet’s ﷺ Last Illness
In the Prophet’s ﷺ final illness she sat by him weeping; he raised his head and asked her why. She said they feared what would befall them after him. He told her that she and her people would be the ones in the weaker position when he was gone — a gentle word for his household. 2 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 2 · pp. 355–356 — Kandhlawi — Lubaba weeps at the Prophet's bedside; he tells her she will be in the weaker position after him.
