Bringing Ikrima Back

Umm Hakim was the niece of Abu Jahl and wife of Ikrima ibn Abi Jahl. At the conquest of Makkah she embraced Islam and at once interceded with the Prophet ﷺ for her husband, who had fled toward Yemen fearing for his life. The Prophet ﷺ granted her his amnesty; she rode after Ikrima, found him on the shore of Tihama as he was about to board a ship, and brought him home to Islam. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 194–195 — Kandhlawi — Umm Hakim secures Ikrima's amnesty and rides after him to the coast to bring him back.

The Tent-Peg at Marj al-Suffar

After Ikrima was martyred in Syria, she remarried Khalid ibn Sa’id; he was killed at Marj al-Suffar the morning after their wedding. Umm Hakim took up a tent-peg and fought the enemy in his place — killing seven of them before the day was out. 2 Stories of the Sahabah · pp. 232–233 — Zakariyya Kandhlawi — at Marj al-Suffar Umm Hakim takes up a tent-peg and slays seven of the enemy the morning after Khalid ibn Sa'id's martyrdom.
