The Goat That Gave Milk
Umm Ma’bad was a Bedouin woman of Khuza’a whose tent the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr passed on the Hijra. Asked for milk or food, she said she had nothing — but the Prophet ﷺ saw a frail goat at the back of her tent that could not graze with the herd. He asked permission to milk it, placed his hand upon its udder with the name of Allah, and it filled the vessel so that she, his Companion and he himself drank, and then a second vessel — and the goat thrived after that day. 1 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 167–168 — Idris Kandhlawi — Umm Ma'bad's lean goat gives milk under the Prophet's hand on the Hijra.
A Description That Identified a Prophet
When her husband returned that evening and saw the milk, she described the traveller’s countenance, dignity and bearing — and Abu Ma’bad knew at once the man could be no other than the Qurayshi the people now spoke of, and resolved to seek him out. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 1 · pp. 168 — Idris Kandhlawi — Umm Ma'bad describes the Prophet to her husband, who recognises him.
