The Two Elders Who Slipped From the Fortress

At Uhud, al-Yamaan and Thabit ibn Qays Shammas — both elderly men — slipped from the fortress where the women and the old had been left, and joined the battle. In the chaos, al-Yamaan was struck down by the Muslims who failed to recognise him. 1 Hayatus Sahaba · Vol 1 · pp. 504–506 — Kandhlawi — al-Yamaan and Thabit ibn Qays slip from the fortress at Uhud; al-Yamaan mistakenly killed.

The Son’s Forgiveness

His son Hudhayfa “forgave the blood-money” — and his magnanimity raised him still further in the esteem of the Prophet ﷺ. 2 Seerat-e-Mustafa · Vol 2 · pp. 66 — Idris Kandhlawi — Hudhayfa refuses the diyya; the Prophet ﷺ honours him for it.
